Now that unlocking the iPhone isn't as impossible as we thought. If you don't want to buy a Turbo Sim. The #iphone.unlock team may have the answer for you (or maybe not) if you want to solder the INSIDES (count me out) of your iPhone and putting some components in to later take them out after you do the actuall unlock process (doesn't sound too bad now)

Video Above
The #iphone.unlock team hasn't gave out the step by step proccess, they are planning to wait a week before they do so. Now to the even better news they have also suggested that they have a
software based hack so you dont have to mess around with the iPhones great insides(yeah)
Enjoy!

iPhone Stress Test: Results

Author: Method2

It may look somewhat fragile (if you can say that), but the tough little iphone can stand its ground. With stress test from PC World from dropping it on concrete 6ft high to shacking it in a bag full of keys. It came away with just a few scrapes/scuffs + no damage to the display. Wow what a sturdy piece of machinery.

New iphone Video Review from Walt

Walt with the iphone review he has done he has also published an email conversation including him and Steve Jobs. In the conversation Walt asked about the missing iphone features when asked Steve Jobs replied with the following.
"I will say that the iPhone is the most sophisticated software platform ever
created for a mobile device, and that we think software features are where the
action will be in the coming years. Stay tuned."
With that does this mean new updates are going to be coming out with these features? Hope so
Check back later for more enough.

New iPhone Details

Author: Method2

Well, we have the reviews, BUT here are some facts about the Apple iPhone from engadgetmobile

  • The mobile version of OS X or whatever it is the iPhone runs takes up 700MB of the device's capacity. Damn son!
  • There's no way to cut, copy, or paste text! WHOA! Big, big mistake.
  • No A2DP support. That, friends, is such a huge bummer right there
  • Sorry, music can't be used as a ringtone -- even if it's just a raw MP3. No additional ringtones will be sold at launch.
  • On a PC the iPhone syncs with Outlook for calendars AND addresses! Noice.
  • It supports Exchange in some capacity, according to Walt, but he doesn't exactly say how.
  • Pogue again confirms document file reading -- but not editing -- for PDF, Word, and Excel (only).
  • Adobe Flash support is officially out. It's just not in the browser. Neither is there any other kind of embedded video support. Sorry everybody, that's that.
  • It will take snaps, but won't record video. How can Apple love YouTube as much as it does and not realize cellphone-shot movies make up a sizeable chunk of the crazy crap you find on there?
  • Oh, and no MMS. And sorry, no voice dialing, either.
  • Contact groups can't be emailed as contact lists
  • Apple sez between 300-400 charges the iPhone will lose battery capacity -- you'll send it in and get the cell replaced for a fee. Meh. We knew this would be the case, but still, meh
  • Apple can (and supposedly will) be rolling out periodic updates -- no surprise there.
  • Battery life is, somehow, almost as mind-blowingly good as Apple claims for calls, music, and movies.
  • As we suspected, users are prompted with lists of WiFi networks if you're not nearby a trusted hotspot. We've seen this on other phones, and we're afraid this would get friggin annoying.
  • It's said to be very scratch resistant. The facade both front and rear apparently just doesn't pick up marring like regular iPods do.
  • Voice quality is said to be good -- not great

Thanks Engadgetmobile for the great details

iPhone Reviews Galore

Author: Method2

With just a few days until the iphone launch it looks like Apple has let the lucky few who already have an iphone let their reviews out to the open public. David Pogue, Walt Mossberg and USA Today's Edward C. Baig are the first to wipp out these new reviews. They all pretty much agree that the iphone is one of the most "coolest" phones ever to come out, but some the features the iphone are not doing so well at the ones that blow other phones out of the market!

The Bad:

  • call quality is only average
  • multi-steps to make a call
  • no home screen speed dial
  • no MMS, IM chat and video recording
  • Edge
  • No searching in the phonebooks only scrolling
  • SOMEWHAT slow internet loading times on edge

Thats enough of the negative lets get into the good stuff

  • GREAT web browser
  • Mail Client
  • Visual Voicemail
  • Cover ipod functions
  • To the suprise of some the Keyboard is good
  • The Battery life was actually up to par about the 8 hour life that apple claimed

Reviews

Read - David Pogue "The iPhone matches most of its hype"

Read - Walter S. Mossberg and Katherine Boehret "Despite its network limitations, the iPhone is a whole new experience and a pleasure to use" (Video Review)

Read - Edward C. Baig "Apple's iPhone isn't perfect, but it's worthy of the hype"

Read - Steven Levy "one of the most hyped consumer products ever comes pretty close to justifying the bombast."

Stress Testing the iPhone

Author: Method2

Approximately 200 field technicians have been secretly testing the iPhone for 10 weeks... logging over 10,000 hours on the phone, including over 5,000 hours of voice calls and 5 gigabytes of data usage. Users worried about durability can rest easier that testing included dousing the iPhone in water, dropping it onto concrete and bouncing it off...

You better like your full-price iPhone because if you don't, AT&T plans on charging you the full $175 early termination fee, even though the phone's cost isn't at all subsidized under a long-term-agreement.

The bottom right of the Apple guided tour page confirms that Apple will be selling the iPhone online. Since the option is still grayed out, it's unclear whether the link will take you to the online Apple Store, to an AT&T site, or to some combination of the two, and how much stock will be assigned to that store. Does this change your plans?

iPhoney: Web Simulator

Author: Method2

If anyone has been trying to make an iPhone application yet you don't know what it will look like or how it will preform?
iPhoney
Is an application that simulates the iphone safari web browser. iPhoney lets you rotate and as you would on the iphone.
A good solution until the launch date (the 29th)
Useful app in my opinion
[via tuaw]

Well, 7 days untill th great iPhone comes out. So what do we have to look at until then? Well lookie here, Apple has releaseda brand new iPhone "Guided Tour" that takes a look through the iphone it's ins and outs. Nothing really new here, but it sheds some light on some things such as the ringtones and settings. I almost forgot we can actually view office files (pdf and text files) It just keeps getting better and better.

Large iPhone displays have been seen in Apple stores. The biggest iPhone's in the world, so to speak.

Employees must have been at it all day to get this big iPhone's up in their windows.
These images are from MyiTablet

Another iPhone Sighting

Author: Method2

Here's another iPhone sighting, this guy reportedly is in a airport.

Wow, I wish I could go around with the iPhone and listen to music like its nothing.

2,000 new AT&T extra sales people will accompany the the current force of employes for the iPhone Launch. Some of the new 2,000 sales people will stay and help with the surge of new customers.

Most thought the new plans would only be revealed on the 29th (date of the release) Mark Siegal says the data plans will be revealed before the 29th and all the things like that.

Looks Goood

New news about prepping for the iphone seems to be coming everyday. Well here we have Two documents stating how managers should prep the landlords for the iphones launch. It's good to know that (hopefully) everything should be undercontrol unlike the playstation 3 launch. Also in thes two documents, AT&T says that their stores will only be open untill 10:00 unless the store mangers themselves want to keep going until the reported 12:00 am.

Reproduces asexual haha now you can make little iphone shuffles.

iPhone Dock Revealed

Author: Method2

Apple has released two new photos of the dock.It looks very good I might add. These pictures however don't show any ports or cords of any nature "ThinkSecret" are suggesting that this dock will indeed charg your headset and your (apple) bluetooth headset. Nothong beyond that though."

YouTube on iPhone

Author: Method2

Out of the box you will be able to watch youtube videod formated for the
iphone. This youtube viewer should be great for everyone (I know I like the idea already with the big screen). It's a standalone app instead of going through the safari browser as some of you may have thought. Hopefully Apple will keep the new apps comin, there is still room on the screen!

The shot above shows how you will be able to boomark your most favorite videos that you seen in an user-friendly display. Just like going on the site it self it is complete with ratings and descriptions and related videos.

"The iPhone will be the first mobile device to support H.264, and YouTube are promising over 10,000 videos in the format on launch day with the rest of the back-catalogue being converted by the Fall."

“iPhone delivers the best YouTube mobile experience by far,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Now users can enjoy YouTube wherever they are-on their iPhone, on their Mac or on a widescreen TV in their living room with Apple TV.”
